Event Information

Who can come?  In short anyone.  While this is a Valentine Day event if you don't have a 'special someone'  don't let that stop you from coming to the party.  Come with friends!  The bar will be open so you might want to leave the kids at home.

What's the food?  Last year we served a full dinner.  We're not going there this year.  Rather we're putting together a first class dessert bar full of Valentine goodies along with some tasty finger foods.  Please don't plan on this being dinner...it's dessert.  What we do encourage you to do is take your 'special someone' or group of friends and head down to The Hideout restaurant in Marion, Illinois before the show.  They are a sponsor for the event this year.  Present your ticket(s) for this event at the Civic Center and you will receive a 10% discount on your dinner down at the restaurant.   After dinner head up to the Civic Center and spend the rest of your evening visiting with friends, enjoying the music, dancing to David Slater or having some drinks from our bar.

Who's David Slater?  David Slater is a vocalist and piano player who has performed in many of the finest venues in the country. He was a male vocalist champion of TV's Star Search back in the day.  After his success with television David signed with Capitol Records and released several charted records. He has toured extensively and worked with some of the best-known entertainers in the world, including Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Garth Brooks, Wayne Newton, Tony Orlando, The Little River Band, and many others.

David is now based in Dallas, Texas, singing and playing classic standards made famous by legendary performers such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole. He has formed The David Slater Combo, a swinging jazz group featuring some of the best musicians in Dallas.

His newest CD, "As Time Goes By," is a stirring, jazzy tribute to the singers and songwriters who made the "Great American Songbook" so legendary.

Dancing?  Yes, the dance floor will be open.  In fact David now holds the record for being the most 'danced' performer we've had here.  Everyone had a great time last year.

Dress code?  Yes, same as last year.  We're calling it coats for the gentleman and cocktail dresses for the ladies.  You won't regret it.

Will there be alcohol available?  Yes, our bar will be open.   We serve beers and wines (no hard drinks).  A full complement will be available for the evening's entertainment.
